The Chinese Language Department, represented by Professor Xiumin Zhao of the CCLE has been awarded the 2024 Tohoku University President’s Award. They were awarded this honor for creating a blended learning system of online and face-to-face classes (including the development of a designated app for this purpose). Thanks to these efforts, around 40% of incoming students select Chinese as their third langauge of study and it has been well received by both students and faculty alike.
